Advantages
Accuracy
The runout of 0.02 to 0.03 mm of conventional products has been reduced to a maximum of 0.003 mm by high speed grinding and by use of the precision needle roller. This guarantees that the live center can be used for precision machining. As a result, the accuracy of the workpiece and surface finish can be greatly improved.
Configuration
The needle rollers are built directly in the tapered section and rotary shaft in stead of in the inner and outer races of conventional bearings. This design increases the diameter of the rotary shaft and the resistance to the load.
Machining
SuJ2 (bearing steel) is used for the conical-shaped rotating section and tapered section. It is hardened to the same degree as the bearing (Rockwell C60?K through 63?K) to assure precision machining.
Maintenance
There is a slight clearance between the cover of the center rotating section and the tapered section and the labyrinth effect is employed to prevent the intrusion of foreign matter from the outside. In the conventional rotating center, the rotating contact section is located on the workpiece side. By contrast, the LS type rotating contact section is mounted on the pushing cut side. This effectively prevents the intrusion of dirt or other foreign matter.
The use of the special grease reduces the consumption of the grease and eliminates the need for replenishment. Use
Because of the compact configuration, this center is easy to handle and is suitable for copying. The tool is used at the position closest to the workpiece. This is very effective in preventing the tool from being damaged and worn.
